The BlueLogger (Bluetooth Logger) is a Python GUI / console application. It
is written in Python 2.7 and can be used in Windows XP, Windows Vista,
Linux or Mac OS X system.
It is a part of my personal project. It can be used as a core for
development of various Bluetooth application.

BlueLogger Features:

With this application we can do the following.
– Discover nearby Bluetooth devices
– Log the “Time”, “Device Name” and “Device Address” of discovered devices.
– Add device/devices to list.
– Remove device/devices from list.
– Clear the list.
– Scan all nearby Bluetooth devices.
– Scan and associate devices to the computer.
– Store all the details of the “Bluetooth Devices” in a Database.
– Show/Hide the list window.
– Show and hide the list window.

BlueLogger Installation:

The BlueLogger is available as both “binary” and “source” packages.
“binary” installation:
– Installable from Ubuntu Software Center or from PPA (Recommended).
– Installable via Terminal from source packages.
– Installable via Windows Installer or from source packages.
“source” installation:
– Installable from Ubuntu Software Center or from PPA (Optional).
– Installable via Terminal from source packages.

BlueLogger [Win/Mac]

An application written in Python that can be used to discover bluetooth devices and log their information. The application has been designed to work with the python-bluetooth package but may also be used with the Mac OSX Bluetooth API or other similar libraries
You can configure BlueLogger to work with specific Bluetooth devices.
In order to do this, you need to point BlueLogger to a specific file ( for the following settings:
– Service Name: (The Name of the service/organization that BlueLogger will listen for on the Bluetooth device)
– Bond Address: ( The MAC address of the device )
– Service Key: ( Either a string or an integer )
– Service KeyHash: ( A hash of the Key with some salt )

Specify the file using the command line arguments.

Example Use:
BlueLogger can be used to monitor for nearby Bluetooth devices using the following command line argument (assuming BlueLogger is installed into the current directory): -c

Or simply execute the file directly.

There is a recent Python module for doing this built into Python 2.6 and 3.x which works with BlueZ (and even Windows):

It’s only a few lines of code that you need to write. It depends on Python’s standard logging module.
