Women’s Ministry: There are a lot of exciting things happening this fall with Women’s Ministry. We are launching IF Table groups (groups of women that gather together monthly) and Secret Sisters (women blessing younger women). Check out the website for more details on both of these awesome opportunities. https://www.commongroundwomen.org/
October 18-20th: Men’s Retreat: Curating a Heart after His
Join the men of Common Ground as we spend the weekend at the beach while chasing after a heart like Christ’s. The job of the curator is to manage, arrange, order, and reorder the priceless pieces of art so they can be put on exhibit. The job of any Christian is very similar. We have to take inventory of the works vying for our attention and put them on display and when we do this right, what is on display is a heart and a life that looks like Jesus. We have invited our good friend Fred Liggin to curate the weekend for us as well as John Luehrs who always put good food on the table. You can sign up below by clicking the link and there will be a drop down box on the Common Ground website so you can pay online. We are looking forward to a great weekend! Contact John Luehrs with any questions. firstname.lastname@example.org https://www.facebook.com/events/495799351238351/
October 26th: Common Ground Harvest Fest
Join us at The Meeting House 2-6pm on the 26th for our first ever Harvest Fest! We are looking forward to an afternoon of fall fun for families at CG and for families all around our neighborhood! If you love this idea and would like to be a part of plotting all the fun (think dunk tank, games, cotton candy) please contact Chris Lawson! This is an event that will require a lot of hands, around 20-30 helpers to make this an awesome day!
November 3rd: Film Screening of Aretha Franklin’s Documentary titled Amazing Grace
We’d love to invite you to the first film screening at The Common Ground Meeting House. We’ll provide the movie snacks and drinks as you bring some friends and come out to the film screening of Amazing Grace. This is a documentary that was just released of a live gospel album by American soul singer Aretha Franklin. It was recorded in January 1972 at the New Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles, with Reverend James Cleveland and the Southern California Community Choir accompanying Franklin in performance. Take a look at the trailer below and join us on Sunday night, November 3rd to watch the incomparable Aretha Franklin! *This event is free to the community. https://www.facebook.com/events/858401477895790/
November 8-10: Unum Solum: Alone Together on the Ancient Pathways of Prayer
Over the next couple months we will have a few opportunities to grow in prayer and stillness through the contemplative tradition of being alone together. We will hold our second annual retreat, November 8th-10th in Crozet, but leading up to the silent retreat there will be two opportunities at The Meeting House to learn about and practice silent prayer. Gregg and Dan will be leading all three of these and we’d love for those wanting to go on the retreat (since it will be silent), to learn and practice before being alone together for the weekend. While there is space for only 10 on the retreat (sign up early) The Meeting House gatherings are open to all who are interested.
Saturday October 12th – 9am-11am @ The Meeting House
Friday Nov. 1st -6:30pm-8:30pm @ The Meeting House
