The Meeting House

In 2019 Common Ground closed on our first piece of property in the history of the church. Situated just two blocks from the Silk Mill, 1915 Charles St. has had a long history of ministry with Micah Ecumenical Ministries, and when the non-profit was looking for new ownership, the decision was unanimous.

Our mission in buying a building was never to use it for Sunday morning. Our passion was to let it be a bridge between the sacred and the secular, a Common Meeting Space for God to have his way regardless of who is in the building.

With this in mind we are proud that this building has united the community around the mission to provide radical hospitality to anyone in the Fall Hill community. To be a space where discipleship happens for CG members and friends. To be a space of reconciliation for those who are unable to hear each other. A place to grow organic beauty for the community around us. A place where the hungry can get a meal. A place where middle and high school students could connect with one another and with Christ. A place for those who have experienced trauma or addiction can find hope and healing through the power of the Holy Spirit and community. A place to play in the frivolity of God’s joy in creation. A place for Sabbath rest and a place for holy silence.

The Meeting House is available to both the community and Common Ground members to rent and use. The CG Meeting House has become the home on Sunday mornings for The Micah Street Church, CG Staff Meetings, Homeless and Community Dinners, CG Youth Group, Young Life Club, and many other organizations and community partners.
